Following the success of the Cortina, Hyundai began developing its own vehicle. After the first production model was released, the company employed George Turnbull, the former Managing Director of the British Leyland’s Austin Morris division. The company also employed six European chief engineers, including a body designer and two chassis designers. A production engineer, a test engineer, and a sales representative all worked for Hyundai to ensure a high-quality product.
